Settling in

Kristin and I have mostly transitioned from house-moving mode to settling-in mode. We've been riding our bikes on the bike trail, explored a bit around Lake McBride, volunteered at Ely's Sesquicentennial celebration, gone camping. And I've found ways to continue flying - I'll talk more about that later.

Volunteering at the Ely Sesquicentennial Celebration

Kristin and I volunteered at two stations. In the morning we sold t-shirts, and in the afternoon we sold drink tickets. These pictures are at the drink station.

The Krob (pronounced with a long "o", like "row") grainery is now retired, but still owned by the Krob family. It was open for tours, so we checked it out. What an amazing place, and a fun piece of history!

In the evening we went to House Divided for beers, where we played cards and enjoyed the live music.

An evening walk

A few days later we went to House Divided again. On our walk past the pond at the park, I grabbed this awesome picture.

Camping at Lacey Keosauqua

We have been wanting to get out camping all summer. With all the moving chaos, we didn't get a chance until this past weekend. The park is beautiful, situated next to the Des Moines River, and with many miles of hiking trails. We had a nice and relaxing time there.
